SENATE-SEAL

Tallahassee, FL–Senate Majority Leader Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton) today released the following statement regarding the passing of Senate Bill 2-A, Health Insurance Affordability Exchange, creating the Florida Health Insurance Affordability Exchange Program (FHIX). This legislation provides health care coverage to low income working Floridians through premium assistance.

“Today, the Senate passed SB 2-A to establish FHIX, making health care coverage available to more than 800,000 uninsured Floridians,” said Leader Galvano. “Included in this good bill, are safeguards to protect Florida taxpayers through a sunset provision as well as a provision that creates the Health Outcomes Review Commission (HORC) to evaluate health outcomes, access, and the fiscal impacts of FHIX. This valuable commission will provide the opportunity to review and determine the progress of FHIX ensuring low income Floridians are receiving the health care coverage they desperately need and the investment of limited tax dollars are performing as intended for Floridians.”
