Surescripts Accused of Monopolistic Behavior

A small e-prescription service is accusing the dominant player in the market, Surescripts, of running a monopoly, in a letter to customers obtained by POLITICO.

PrescribersConnection, which connects long-term care providers and pharmacies, has been told by Surescripts that the larger company does not allow smaller-prescription aggregators to connect to its network. “We have attempted to connect with Surescripts directly and they have refused to allow us to connect,” the letter states. “PrescribersConnection and other intermediaries are banding together, and refuse to let a monopoly occur based on the fact that innovation in the industry would become stagnant along with monopolistic pricing.”
