Charles P. Smith is a Government Consultant responsible for lobbying the executive and legislative branches on behalf of the Firm’s clients.
Charles served 10 years between the legislative and executive branches of government and on state legislative campaigns. Most recently, he served as the Legislative Planning Director at the Florida Department of Health (Department). In this role, he represented the Department before the Florida Legislature and its members. During his time at the Department, Charles led the efforts to pass two legislative omnibus bills and a successful confirmation of the State Surgeon General by the Florida Senate.
Prior to his role of Director, Charles served as the Senior Legislative Assistant for State Senator Ed Hooper. In this role, Charles was responsible for supporting the Senator in his role as Chair of the Committee on Commerce and Tourism and assisted the Senator with legislative and budget initiatives. Charles also served in this role in the Florida House of Representatives, working with two State Representatives over a three-year period.
Charles also has extensive campaign experience, serving as a campaign manager for two successful State House races in both the 2016 and 2018 campaign cycles.
Charles received his B.S. from Florida State University in International Affairs and a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Florida State University.
