Tallahassee, Fla. – Meenan P.A., a Tallahassee law firm specializing in regulatory and legislative affairs, today announced that Stephen C. Burgess has joined the firm to serve in an “Of Counsel” capacity and Sarah Niewold has joined the firm as an associate.
Stephen Burgess, the former Consumer Advocate for the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS), has more than 35 years’ experience with the Florida Legislature and state executive agencies. While at DFS, Steve served as the Consumer Advocate on three different occasions, most recently serving CFO Jeff Atwater. He served as staff director of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee for 5 years, and served for 15 years as Deputy Public Counsel, representing utility consumers before the Public Service Commission and Florida appellate courts.

She also worked with Capitol Insight, LLC as a legislative and legal intern. Her knowledge of the Florida Legislature will be an asset to Meenan P.A.
